I was born in Seattle
in 1960.
We moved to Marin county, CA in 1967 and then onto Mexico in 69. I spent
six years traveling with my mother in Oaxaca, Chiapas, Guerrero, Edo. de
Mex., Michoacan, Jalisco... Mainly hanging out, learning Spanish and
reading. Back to the States in 75 for an aborted education, ending up
in SF in 76. I gave up school altogether when punk rock came along and
played drums with Offs, Feederz, Fast Floyd, Jah Hovah, Fresh Points, [a
one night stand with] The Stir-Ups, and far too many others... Finally
picked up the dope habit that had been waiting to happen around '88 and
dropped out to be a full-time recluse/model/scumbag... |

'Exile' is such a
dramatic and melancholy word that I will absolutely use it to characterize my time
spent drying out and getting well (well, drying out, certainly) in Phoenix and farther afield in the
Great Lakes region of New York, from 93 to 04. |

The artistic isolation
and changes of scenery allowed forced me to come
to terms with the sounds that I have been recording since 1979. I find
that I like them. I hope that you do, too. |
